Just Another Context

Just Another Context

Written by:

It’s not as though I love it down here. But it has been a version of “Home Sweet Home” for  an eternity of darkness. You may think that, because it is dark, that my world is filled with anxiety, as if I never know what is around the corner. Or whether I am even at a corner. Not so, my friend. I know ex-actly where I am and I know any presence within an ear’s throw.

No, silly, I do not go groping around corners throwing my, or anyone else’s ears. But as a “stone’s throw” is only a thing I have heard about from Up There, I have gathered that it is ambiguously, all-encompassing. Neither far nor close. All a matter of context. My world is all about context.

Like a Table of Contents, I live by a Table of Context.  I have been thinking about a list of things you can expect Down Here, but then – why? It isn’t going to show up on an itinerary for cruises. It isn’t a destination for creatures with expansive hearts.

But isn’t it funny? I see so many children at the End, just a “stone’s throw” away, throwing stones at me. I can never see them, but I know that the End is one of their favorite places to be. Screaming vowels that I have learned mean nothing without context. I hear water splash, creatures thrash, followed by a scream. I hear the stone careen nearby and feel water surge against me. The stone and I share close spaces, at least in our context.

I have decided that there are many nuggets of knowledge, that mean nothing without context. I had a chance, just one time, to marry sound with context from Up There. The space above, too much to see, seemed louder when I moved my feet. And yearning to know, I reached.

I get creative urges and love words. I am a big fan of Word Feud.
